1. Nugal Beach
Tucked between dramatic cliffs south of Makarska, Nugal is one of Croatia’s most photographed hidden beaches. While you can hike down a steep trail to reach it, arriving by boat is infinitely easier and lets you enjoy the approach from the water.
The beach itself is a mix of fine pebbles and smooth rocks, with water so clear you can see the bottom from 10 metres away. Come early in the morning for the best light and the most privacy.
2. Vela Stiniva
Not to be confused with the famous Stiniva on Vis, this hidden cove near Živogošće is a local secret. Surrounded by towering rocks, it feels like a natural swimming pool. Almost no one knows about it, and that’s the beauty.
3. Pisak Coves
The tiny village of Pisak sits below Biokovo mountain, and its coastline is dotted with small, unnamed coves that are practically impossible to reach on foot. By boat, you can hop between them and find your own private paradise.
The water here ranges from deep sapphire to the most vivid turquoise, depending on the depth and the angle of the sun. Bring your snorkelling gear.
4. Drašnice Hidden Beach
South of Drašnice, there’s a stretch of coast with crystal-clear water and not a single building in sight. The underwater visibility here is some of the best on the Riviera, making it a perfect snorkelling spot.
5. Brela’s Secret Coves
Even in popular Brela, there are coves that most tourists never see. Just a few minutes by boat from the main beaches, you’ll find spots where the only sounds are the waves and the wind.
